Boards for Vert and Street

?Boards for Vert and Street
There is a big difference in board set up when you skating vert compared to street. Either way you are going to want to get a set up that will be durable and keep its shape and pop for a long time. With both set ups you are going to want to have nice, smooth rolling bearings like black panthers and bones swiss. You are also going to want to have strong long lasting hardware. Other than that the set ups will be very different.
Lets start with board width. Most of the time when people skate street they will skate boards anywhere from 7.5” to 8” at the most. Vert skaters will typically have a board sized from 8” to 9.5”. The trucks you have on your board will always depend on the width of the board itself. Most of the time you want the trucks to match the board width or be a little bit narrower, also, vert skaters will put riser pads between the trucks and board so there is a smaller chance of wheel bite. Street skaters generally don’t use riser pads because the lower the board is to the ground the easier it is to do technical flip tricks. Vert skaters will always have larger wheels than street skaters. Normally a vert skaters wheel ranges from 55mm to 68mm. while a street skaters wheel will range from 49mm to 54mm. the reason the street skaters wheel is smaller is for the same reason they don’t use riser pads, the closer to the ground the faster the board will flip and the smaller wheel means less weight.
